What Is SEO?

Many people hear the term “SEO”, but today I will tell you exactly What SEO Is. Note:  Many people try to start an online business with no knowledge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization).  Nothing truly picks up until these individuals actually know the answer to the question: What is SEO?

SEO Meaning:

SEO actually is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization.

What Is SEO?

Well, the SEO Definition or SEO Meaning is simple. SEO is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization and there is nothing too magical about it. But what you really want to know is: What is SEO, right? You might have heard a lot about SEO or SEO Marketing and how it works. Basically what SEO is, is it’s a measurable and repeatable process that is used to send signals to search engines that your pages are worth showing in Google’s index. Your website content, keywords, websites linking to your website (or backlinks), your page speed are just a few of the components of proper SEO or Search Engine Optimization.

In other words, Google uses complex mathematical formulas called algorithms to give us scores on every website and every search people do in Google to figure out which websites should rank best for what people are looking for.
Think of the algorithm like a collection of empty jars one jar gives you a score for the quality of your site, one jar gives you a score for how many sites linked to you, one score for how much people trust you and your job in terms of getting your site ranking. The goal is to fill up more jars in the algorithm.

With your website, you can affect your search engine ranking by having the highest score in terms of quality of your sight, of having the highest score for the authority of your website, of having the high score for being the most trusted website for the search people are looking for, and so on. The good thing is that there are hundreds of jars and every single one of these jars in this algorithm is poured into one big jar to give you a score. This score is used in the algorithm to figure out where you rank. This is an opportunity for you to continue to fill up this big jar and rank better. So optimizing your site for search results really means getting the highest score in as many of these areas as you can. Know there are some jars that are worth more than others.

Be very mindful of Quality, Trust, and Authority. This is what Google is trying to measure when they’re trying to figure out what site should rank for what keywords. Offer something valuable, unique, and/or interesting to Google searchers. For example: If you’re selling backpacks and you’re using the same description that every other backpack seller is using on their website then you are not offering anything unique to Google searches even though your backpacks might look pretty cool but the content is the same as everybody else’s so Google has no way of telling that your backpacks on your backpack site is better than anybody else’s. Instead, offer people interesting content, for example, offer them the ability to personalize their backpack, give them information on how to wash it, is it waterproof, or is it stain resistant?
